Leadership Coaching in Chicago
Chicago's workforce sits at the intersection of legacy and emerging industries—from manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services to technology, consulting, and other knowledge-based sectors. As corporate relocations, artificial intelligence, and the future of work continue to reshape organizations, leaders are increasingly called upon to build trust, communicate across diverse perspectives, and guide people through change.
For today's leaders, technical expertise is only the starting point.
As a Chicago-based ICF Master Certified Coach, The Leadership Voice Studio™ Founder Joyce Talag, MCC draws on more than 5,000 coaching conversations with professionals across these industries to help emerging and experienced leaders strengthen their communication, expand their influence, and develop a leadership voice that is authentic, adaptable, and trusted.
Available at the Chicago Loop office near the Willis Tower, or virtually from anywhere in the United States.
Leadership Development Isn't One-Size-Fits-All
The pace of organizational change is accelerating. Artificial intelligence is transforming how work gets done, while corporate relocations and global talent continue to reshape Chicago's workforce, bringing together professionals from different disciplines, cultures, generations, and communication styles.
Technical expertise remains essential, but it is no longer enough to lead effectively. Today's leaders are expected to influence without relying solely on authority, navigate ambiguity, communicate across differences, and build trust in environments where change is constant.
As leadership becomes more complex, traditional one-size-fits-all leadership development often falls short. Every leader brings a different combination of strengths, experiences, responsibilities, and organizational context. Effective leadership development isn't about applying a standard formula—it is about cultivating the awareness, judgment, and communication required to lead authentically, adapt thoughtfully, and grow into greater responsibility.
Every Leadership Challenge Is Different
No two leaders face exactly the same challenges. Your role, industry, team dynamics, organizational culture, and career stage influence how you lead—and what effective leadership requires from you.
Coaching gives you the space to examine your context, respond more intentionally, and develop approaches that reflect both your leadership style and the outcomes you need to achieve.
Leading Beyond Technical Expertise
You've built credibility through your knowledge and experience. Now your success depends on influencing people, developing others, and leading through relationships.
Communicating Across Diverse Teams
You collaborate with colleagues from different functions, cultures, generations, or communication styles and want to build stronger alignment and trust.
Influencing Without Formal Authority
You need to gain buy-in from stakeholders, peers, clients, or senior leaders, even when you don't have direct authority over decisions.
Navigating Growth and Change
Whether you're stepping into a new leadership role, leading organizational change, or adapting to AI-driven ways of working, you want to lead with greater confidence, clarity, and intention.
The immediate challenge may bring you to coaching. The deeper work is developing the judgment, presence, and adaptability to meet the challenges that follow.
Leadership Coaching as a Thought Partnership
Leadership challenges rarely have simple answers.
Rather than prescribing a standard framework or checklist, coaching offers a confidential space to think critically, challenge assumptions, explore different perspectives, and make intentional decisions with greater clarity.
Depending on your goals, coaching may focus on:
Executive presence
Communication and influence
Difficult conversations
Stakeholder management
Leading technical teams
Cross-cultural leadership
Career transitions
Decision-making
Building confidence without changing who you are

Meaningful leadership growth takes place over time. Private coaching engagements are therefore designed as sustained six- to twelve-month relationships, giving us the continuity to address immediate leadership demands while working toward longer-term growth.
The Coaching Engagement
Exploratory Conversation
We begin by discussing your leadership context, current priorities, and the outcomes you hope to achieve. We will also determine whether my approach and the structure of the engagement are the right fit.
Establishing the Engagement
Once we decide to move forward, we will formalize the scope, coaching objectives, meeting cadence, confidentiality, investment, and other practical arrangements. If your organization is sponsoring the engagement, the agreement can include the sponsor’s objectives and appropriate progress measures while protecting the confidentiality of our coaching conversations.
Personalized Coaching
We will meet at an agreed cadence, generally once or twice each month. Each conversation can focus on the most important leadership situation you are facing at that time—a consequential decision, difficult conversation, stakeholder challenge, team concern, or transition—while remaining connected to the broader outcomes established for the engagement.
Support Between Conversations
Leadership challenges do not always arrive on schedule. Depending on the scope of your engagement, you may contact me between sessions to share reflections, seek perspective, or prepare for a time-sensitive situation.
Reviewing Progress
Throughout the engagement, we will periodically revisit your goals, reflect on what is changing, and identify where you want to deepen or extend the work. When a sponsor is involved, any formal review or reporting will follow the confidentiality boundaries agreed upon at the beginning.
Private leadership coaching engagements begin at $5,500 and require a minimum six-month commitment. Organizationally sponsored engagements are scoped according to objectives, cadence, and stakeholder requirements.
Coaching is available in person at our Chicago Loop office near the Willis Tower or virtually throughout the United States.
Frequently Asked Questions (FQs)
Who is leadership coaching for?
1
Leadership coaching is designed for executives, people leaders, technical experts, project and functional leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals preparing for greater responsibility. You do not need to have a particular title. The more important question is whether your work requires you to influence others, exercise judgment, navigate complexity, or lead meaningful outcomes.
Is this leadership coaching or executive coaching?
2
Both terms describe aspects of my work. Executive coaching commonly refers to coaching for senior leaders, while leadership coaching can support professionals across several stages of leadership. My engagements are executive in depth and structure but are not limited to clients who already hold executive titles.
What results can I expect from leadership coaching?
3
The specific outcomes depend on your goals and context. Clients commonly seek greater clarity in decision-making, stronger leadership communication, more effective stakeholder relationships, increased confidence in high-stakes situations, and a more intentional approach to influence and team leadership. Coaching does not offer a standard formula or guaranteed result; it requires reflection, experimentation, and active participation.
How long is a coaching engagement?
4
Private leadership coaching engagements require a minimum six-month commitment. Many clients work with me for six to twelve months at a minimum so that we can address immediate leadership situations while supporting deeper and more sustainable growth.
What is the investment?
Private leadership coaching engagements begin at $5,500. The final investment depends on the length of the engagement, meeting cadence, level of between-session access, and whether organizational sponsorship or additional stakeholder coordination is involved.
5
Can my employer sponsor my coaching?
6
Yes. Your organization may sponsor all or part of the engagement. I can provide a proposal and coaching agreement outlining the objectives, scope, investment, meeting cadence, and any agreed review process. Depending on your organization’s procedures, the agreement may involve you, your sponsor or manager, and the coach.
Will my employer know what we discuss?
7
Your coaching conversations remain confidential. When an organization sponsors coaching, we establish in advance what information—if any—may be shared. Updates may focus on agreed goals, participation, or overall progress rather than the substance of individual conversations, unless you explicitly authorize otherwise. ICF guidance places control of coaching confidentiality with the client and calls for clear agreements with sponsors at the beginning of the engagement.
How can I request sponsorship from my employer?
8
Begin by connecting the coaching engagement to a current business or leadership priority. You might discuss:
A transition into a larger or more complex role
Responsibility for a new team, function, or strategic initiative
The need to strengthen executive communication or stakeholder influence
Preparation for succession, promotion, or expanded leadership scope
Leading through organizational, cultural, or technological change
I can provide a written proposal that you can share with your manager, Human Resources, or Learning and Development team.
What should I ask when evaluating a leadership coach?
9
Consider the coach’s professional credentials, experience with leaders in comparable situations, understanding of organizational systems, approach to confidentiality, coaching methodology, and ability to support both immediate challenges and longer-term development. The relationship also matters: you should feel both respected and constructively challenged
How frequently will we meet?
Most clients meet once or twice each month. We will agree on a cadence based on your goals, availability, and the pace of your leadership responsibilities.
10
Is support available between sessions?
11
Yes, depending on the scope of the engagement. Between-session access may include brief check-ins, reflections, or support preparing for time-sensitive leadership situations. The terms and communication channels will be established in the coaching agreement.
Do you meet clients in person?
12
Yes. In-person leadership coaching is available at The Leadership Voice Studio’s Chicago Loop office near Willis Tower. Virtual coaching is available throughout the United States.
Do you coach multilingual and internationally experienced leaders?
13
Yes. Many of my clients work across cultures or use English as an additional language. My background in leadership communication and cultural curiosity allows us to examine how language, context, and workplace norms influence how leadership is expressed and perceived.
The leadership challenges ahead may be different from those that brought you this far. A sustained coaching engagement gives you the space, perspective, and trusted counsel to meet them with greater clarity, influence, and intention.
Private engagements begin at $5,500 and require a minimum six-month commitment.
